When I was looking at rebuild options for the burnt slipper clutch, they offered me the standard replacement and upgraded pads (HRATRX15HS) for a little more as they said they would not soak up water and crumble and burn like the ones I was replacing.I also don't think a new guy like me could have reasonably anticipated this. The shop knew it was going in a Slash Ultimate, and I feel they should have mentioned this to me when I was there with a burnt slipper clutch and seeking a solution. Had I known that the center diff I was buying would disable the speed sensor, I would not have spent that $70.I should have insisted on verifying while I was there - but I took their word for it. Had I known this, I would have possibly bought different trucks, so that the batteries I was buying could be used in both trucks. The 3S 5000 mAh batteries are too long to fit in the Stampede. I specifically asked them if there batteries I was buying would work in both vehicles. But as a new guy, relying on the apparently knowledgable people at the repair & parts counter in the shop.as far as I am concerned, my local shop failed me in the following ways.given that I drive an hour to buy stuff at the "local" place (because I am glad they are there!!), rather than just buying on-line: In related news.I know that nobody is perfect and stuff happens. They absolutely refused to respond to my question about the 3s 6400 max batteries not being good because they lead to overheating (which is what my shop told me), other than repeating that a "3s battery is intended for speed runs, not bashing." They suggested the 2S 7600 max for bashing.even though that wasn't my question. There is no hope of getting my longer batteries that work in the Slash to work in the Stampede (they don't fit). They claim a 3s battery is "intended for speed runs, not for bashing".Replacing this slipper clutch with a center differential (TRA6780, $70), or the slipper clutch from the Stampede disables the speed sensor function. The slipper clutch in the Slash Ultimate comes with a magnet for the speed sensor. The slipper clutch in these two units are interchangeable, even though they look quite different. Both units come stock with a 32 pitch pinion - compatible with the Traxxas center diff for these units. Here is what I learned - directly from Traxxas via their web chat: I'm just trying to inform other new guys who should be aware of this stuff (: If it seems kind of ranty, it's not really supposed to be. This post concerns the Traxxas Slash Ultimate and Stampede 4x4 VXL, purchased in November 2021.
